18 April 2013. How Germany tries to influence vote of Member States on neonicotinoids with the DeBiMo industry funded flawed study

In the context of the ongoing discussions on a ban on 3 neonicotinoid insecticides hazardous to bees, Germany is making use of a German flawed study: the DeBiMo monitoring project. This study has been partly managed by pesticides manufacturers Bayer and Syngenta and presents important scientific deficiencies. An independent scientific evaluation of the DeBiMo study is available here. Furthermore, the conclusions of this study were rejected by the French food safety authority (ANSES). Nevertheless, we have received information that Germany is currently trying to influence European Member States to vote against the proposed ban, basing its arguments on the DeBiMo study.
